5 foot by 7 foot purple infographic with qr codes
OVERVIEW

I collaborated with my coworker, Janessa Roufs, to produce a large scale infographic to be displayed in the entrance of the Centennial Student Union, which has an average foot traffic of 50,000 visitors weekly. The side I worked on, shown in the image, features 21 QR Codes to frequently visited sites for MSU students. The goal is to give these students a shortcut to access these sites more conveniently.

CHALLENGE

Many students at MSU, especially incoming freshman, are unaware of all of the services the university, specifically its student union, has to offer. The challenge of the infographic was to create an eye-catching design that students will stop and look at to learn more.

WHAT WE DID

I created a 5 foot by 7 foot design for one side of the infographic. Message boards were a common way of communicating information in the past, so I wanted to capture that essence in an abstracted way, with the notices being QR codes. Collaborating with my coworker, we created "stickers" of various emoticons, landmarks, and activities that the student union can provide that we decorated over both sides of the design.

POST PROJECT REFLECTION

Janessa and I were very satisfied with the end result of this project. This was one of the first large-scale projects I have worked on that was manufactured professionally. I think it is always fulfilling as a designer to see the project you've toiled away on on your computer produced and physically in front of you. This infographic towers above you! It is always on display in the Centennial Student Union, and has been utilized for tabling and orientation events. Seeing families stop, read, and scan the QR codes of the infographic is so awesome, because that means the design is working! My favorite part of this project was designing the "stickers" — they are very versatile, and I even utilized them in another project (See Centennial Student Union Exhibit).
